Environmental Policy
The North London Chamber of Commerce, is a membership based business support organisation, strengthening the North London Business Community by representing their interests as one voice.
The North London Chamber of Commerce believes that adoption of environmentally sensitive practices and awareness is essential, not only with regard to preventing pollution and safeguarding our environment but also from the point of view of contributing to continual environmental improvement for a healthy environment for commercial and social activities, and sustainable economic development.
The North London Chamber of Commerce realise that by carrying out our everyday work, we have an influence on the environment. This environmental policy covers all aspects of our operations.
The North London Chamber of Commerce is committed to the prevention of pollution, protecting the environment and contributing to continuing environmental improvements by:
- fully complying with all new and existing environmental legislation in the UK
- careful and deliberate selection of all working materials ordered by the company to ensure the most viable and environmentally sensitive option is sourced
- keeping waste materials to a minimum and to dispose of them via recycling systems wherever possible
- reducing the use of paper with the company?s systems by encouraging extensive use of modern and innovative technology
- reducing harmful emissions to the air, water and land and paying particular attention to reducing the use of private cars by company staff
- use energy in the most efficient and practical way
- raising awareness amongst employees of energy efficient practices and office best practice procedures in relation to their individual impact on the environment
- review annually this environmental policy in relation to any new organisational practices, changes in legislation and achievements as regards environmental targets set
- increase our reputation as an environmentally sensitive and responsible organisation amongst our employees, partners, members and the general public in this generation and the next
- convey relevant messages about the need to safeguard the environment within all areas that the organisation operates
- include environmental considerations as an intrinsic part of the company?s planning processes in terms of physical developments such as extensions or new buildings and in terms of any activity carried out by the company.
The North London Chamber of Commerce Chief Executive is responsible for all the principles laid down in the company?s environmental policy. The management committee and those employed by the company are responsible for fully supporting the policy through their co-operation and participation.
